The SAUT HERMES is back at the GRAND PALAIS for the seventh time. Every spring this is the unmissable event of the international equestrian calendar. This event is an extension of the first equestrian competitions which made the building reverberate with life in the early Twentieth Century. The SAUT HERMES promises every year sport, elegance and excellence in the historic tradition of the GRAND PALAIS.
Six years ago, Hermès brought horses back to the heart of the French Capital. And that decision nurtured by longstanding expertise in the world of horses, gave rise to a sporting fixture eagerly awaited by the best international riders as well as passionate horse lovers.
These three days in the bossom of the GRAND PALAIS, which was designed to host equestrian competitions for the 1900 Exposition Universelle, restore the premises to their original vocation : living to the rhythm of hoof-beats, in the warm-up arena and on the course itself, and discovering other aspects of horsemanship by strolling through the gloriously decorated galleries that lend themselves to exploration.

For three days PARIS comes alive under the great glass roof of the GRAND PALAIS. On Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20, the world show-jumping elite gather to participate in a competition given 5-star status, the FEI's highest classification.
Here we find the saddlery workshop where Hermes carftsmen share their passion for their craft and their love of fine work. There a specialised bookshop, a photo studio and, for the first time, a mini-farm where hosts and animal behaviour experts offer educational activities. Visitors can also see the wise geese trained by Pépiloué... when they are not in the arena between show-jumping classes.

Everything has changed since 1837 when Thierry Hermès set up as a harness and sadder-maker in Paris. Horses are no longer a feature of the French capital of today, but there is still one street, one adress where they have a strong presence: 24, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
The excellence of Hermès saddles is associated with the many victories of these rider-partners who grace the podiums on the international circuit. In show-jumping, the Hermès Cavale saddle shares in the achievements of the French rider Simon Delestre, ranked in the top five in the world, and of Romain Duguet who, having won the 2015 Grand Prix Hermès, has enjoyed succession of victories.

Romain Duguest also helped the Swiss team to qualify for the Rio Olympics in August 2016. In dressage, Jessica won Bredou-Werndl, the German rider ranked fifth in the world, most significantly triumphed in the 2015 World Cup Class in Gothenburg. And finally, Astier Nicolas can boast one of France's most glorious eventing successes having, in 2015, become the second Frenchman in history to win a CCI 4-star.
Around the competition : with the performance Nature at full gallop, BARTABAS makes the glass roof of the GRAND PALAIS reverberate to the exuberant sound of hoof-beats from the horses of the National Equestrian Academy of Versailles. Unexpected, harmonious and tempestuous, it is nature as performance.

BARTABAS reveals the secret of his whole life, his passion and his art : his love of horses before humanity. We can see what BARTABAS has done over more than thirty years to gauge the almost spiritual evolution in his connection with horses.
