USPA NEWS - Project Occupy Beach Street (Penang Car Free Day) - A mega & on-going weekly street event. Location at Lebuh Pantai, Lebuh Bishop, Lebuh Gereja & Gat Lebuh Gereja. This event is endorse by Penang State Government & Municipal Council of Penang Island/Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang

Co-organizers: Penang State Sports Council/Majlis Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang (MSN), Penang Global Tourism (PGT), Penang Green Council (PGC), George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) & LUMA. The Opening Ceremony will be officiated by Chief Minister of Penang YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng & Member of Parliament (Tanjong) YB Tuan Ng Wei Aik. Every Sunday, Project Occupy Beach Street will temporarily barricade major streets on Lebuh Pantai in benefit of family-friendly, community activities for Penangites. Aligned with the state government's initiative for Penang Car Free Day, everyone can utilize the six-hour, traffic-free space for brisk walking, jogging, biking, dancing and social activities - yes, busking is officially legit.

Skip the drive to Lebuh Pantai on Sundays and hop on the public bus to these streets. In conjunction with Occupy Beach Street, Iron Forest will be open every Sunday from 7am - 1pm. Once month, LUMA will be curating an Improv Series in the Iron Forest. Tomorrow's guest artists are contemporary dance choreographer Aida Redza and cellist Catherine Chin.
